FOR PETIT
BATEAU,SUSTAINABILITY
ISN'T A CONCEPT, IT'S JUST
COMMON SENSE.
When we make clothes for children, we ensure they can withstand falling, rolling around and being washed again and again. To make sure our clothes last, they are high-quality. We also do everything we can to extend your products' lives again and again.
MEETING THE HIGHEST
QUALITY STANDARDS
QUALITY STANDARDS
At Petit Bateau, we don't compromise on quality. All our products go through stringent checks at all stages of the manufacturing process, and afterwards too! Clothes are tested 19 times during production to check and re-check how they hold up over time. Of course, we believe that no high-quality clothing will contain any components that could impact on health. This is why we've decided to meet the OEKO-TEX 100® label standards. In 2020, 75% of the products in our collections had certified labels.
ENOUGH TO MAKE SOME SUPER RAINBOWS!
Ecodesign is at the heart of sustainability: it involves thinking ahead about products' environmental impact from materials selection to end of life. This is why we are committed to using 100% eco-friendly materials that are kinder to the environment, people's health, and animal welfare, by 2025. And we want to go further by making other eco-friendly choices too: design decisions, cuts, manufacturing processes, choices of dyes, etc.
This is a huge topic, so we're tackling various aspects of it: teams in different roles (design, marketing, and purchasing) are involved and trained, different products receive lifecycle analysis and experimental projects take place.
DEVELOP A STYLE THAT'S
TIMELESS
Petit Bateau has always believed in joining in with fashion, without being a slave to it. This easily recognisable, creative and timeless style is our trademark. It's also what makes our clothes last: being timeless, they can be worn again and again and stay looking just as good. Which is good news!
EXPANDING SECOND-HAND
SERVICES
In 2017, we launched a second-hand resale service for the public. This has now become the "Changer DeMain" scheme in our app. Handier, more transparent and free, the service helps you give Petit Bateau clothes a new lease of life. Taking things further, in 2021, we're experimenting with in-store collection in France. Selling on? Donating? Recycling? There's sure to be a solution for all your used Petit Bateau products, whatever state they're in.
CUTTING DOWN ON WASTE
We're delighted that French law now prevents unsold textiles being destroyed. For a long time, we've been donating clothes annually to charities like Agence du Don en Nature, Dons Solidaires, Secours Populaire and Tricotez Cœur so they can be distributed to children who need them. All textile waste from our Troyes factory is fully recycled in France and used to insulate buildings or stuff car seats. 88 tonnes of textiles were repurposed this way in 2020.
